Terms of Service

Last updated: July 12, 2026

1. The service

AcademyWise provides software for homeschool organizations — registration, class management, billing, gradebooks, attendance, records, and related tools. An "Organization" is the co-op, micro-school, academy, or pod that creates an account; "Users" are the administrators, teachers, parents, and students the Organization invites.

2. Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and for keeping credentials confidential. Student accounts may only be created and managed by a parent, guardian, or the Organization on a guardian's behalf. Organizations are responsible for obtaining any consent required from their families before entering student information.

3. Payments

Tuition, fees, and dues collected through AcademyWise are processed by our payment partner and settle to the Organization's merchant account. AcademyWise charges the Organization subscription fees and/or a platform fee on payment volume as agreed at signup. Organizations are responsible for the accuracy of what they bill families and for their own refund policies.

4. Your content and records

Organizations and Users own the content they enter. You grant us the license needed to store, process, and display it to the people your roles and settings allow. Academic records (transcripts, attendance, portfolios) are exportable by guardians, and we will not hold them hostage: families can obtain their student's records even after leaving an Organization.

5. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no unlawful content, no attempting to access other families' or organizations' data, no interfering with the service's operation, no uploading malicious code. Recording features may only be used consistent with applicable recording-consent laws. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

6. Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the service is provided "as is" without warranties of uninterrupted operation. We may improve or change features; if we discontinue a material feature, we'll give Organizations reasonable notice and export ability.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AcademyWise's total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amounts the Organization paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions an Organization makes based on records in the system.

8. Termination

Organizations may cancel at any time; we'll provide a data export window of at least 30 days after cancellation. We may terminate for material breach with notice. Sections 4, 7, and 9 survive termination.

9. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. We may update these terms; material changes will be emailed to Organization administrators, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
